In this spirit, Marienkron introduces a new form of FASTING:  
Marienkron’s Vegetable.SUSHI fasting. 

Even tried-and-tested concepts sometimes need an update. Together with its team of experts, Marienkron has developed a new fasting program that offers a great alternative to the well-known traditional fasting methods.  
The idea behind it: refreshing dishes for the summer that combine the pleasures of modern cuisine with mindful reduction and a restorative health retreat.  
 

Fasting without giving up good taste. With this focus, our health retreat pampers fasting guests with maximum enjoyment – through intense soup essences, fresh herbs, and now also with vegetable sushi, maki, and tea cocktails. With this newly developed form of vegetarian sushi fasting, Marienkron once again ensures that every bite is full of flavour.

Step by step to better health

 

1. Arrival day = Relief day
 

This is a relief day to gently prepare the body for reduction.

2. First day
 

Start of fasting with a soup fasting day.

3. Vegetable Sushi Fasting 
 

Days 2-5: Vegetable SUSHI fasting 

4. Breaking the fast in the evening
 

Day 6: In the evening, breaking the fast with an intense fasting soup essence, julienne vegetables & egg custard

5. Recovery phase
 

Day 7: Recovery diet – in the morning fasting soup essence & tofu, at midday a rice bowl with steamed fish, and in the evening a light full meal according to the menu plan.

Vegetarian SUSHI fasting cure


At Marienkron, the Vegetarian SUSHI fasting cure is supervised by doctors, therapists and dietitians – ensuring a strengthening and therapeutic effect supported by exercise, meditation and detoxifying in-room wraps. For even greater well-being, body wraps, Kneipp pours, baths, various massages or beauty treatments can be added.

Which fasting methods are available at Marienkron?


Marienkron looks back on more than 50 years of tradition in fasting and Kneipp medicine. Building on this foundation – and complemented by the knowledge gained from numerous scientific studies on the positive effects of fasting – Marienkron offers 5 different fasting methods, always selected in consultation with the doctors. 
 

In principle, guests may choose their preferred fasting method, but always in consultation with the doctors and based on a current laboratory report. 
At Marienkron, all fasting methods are alkaline. Guests are served intense vegetable soup essences and fresh herbs for full flavour. The wide variety of fruit and vegetables from the Neusiedler Seewinkel ensures regionality and exceptional freshness.

Vegetarian Vegetable.SUSHI Fasting:  
Our latest fasting method with vegetable sushi & maki. It is a further development or combination of soup and vegetable fasting, with around 650 kcal per day. Because of the rice, this is a carbohydrate-rich fasting form. A great advantage is the feeling of enjoying “real” meals. This makes the transition back to everyday life after fasting easier.

Vegetable fasting: Scientific studies in recent years have shown that the fasting mode is already triggered at 640–750 kcal. With vegetable fasting, therefore, a solid lunch meal can be taken in the usual reduced form, consisting of steamed vegetables and potatoes or rice.

Soup fasting:  
The most traditional fasting method at Marienkron, based on “Buchinger soup fasting”. Over the decades, Marienkron’s experience has led to adaptations, with a special focus on creating intense flavour for enjoyment within reduction.

Juice fasting:  
The “strictest” fasting form with exclusively liquid nutrition through clear soups, freshly pressed vegetable & fruit juices, and the lowest calorie intake. We recommend this form of fasting primarily for experienced fasters. 

Fasting - How it works


The thousand-year-old tradition of fasting is currently coming back into focus. Fasting acts directly on the gut and metabolism and can be used for medical and therapeutic purposes. Conscious reduction relaxes the body and strengthens health.

Like every form of fasting, Sushi Fasting has positive effects on health:

Our organism is heavily overstrained by today’s lifestyle and eating habits. During a fasting retreat, the metabolism adapts within just a few days. First, the liver’s sugar reserves are used up. After a maximum of 2 days, these are depleted, and the body switches to burning fat deposits through an altered metabolism. 
In this process, damaged cell components are also broken down, which reduces inflammation and slows down the ageing process.


1–2 fasting programs per year strengthen health and enhance well-being. 
 

Cuisine at Marienkron

At Marienkron, the focus of our cuisine is on gut health and overall well-being. We serve vegetarian à la minute dishes, refined with herbs and spices according to each guest’s individual preferences. Ingredients are sourced primarily from the region and, whenever possible, in organic quality.

In addition to vegetarian cuisine, we offer fish on Fridays and meat on Sundays upon request. Our dietitians also provide guidance at the buffet with tips and information, while our chefs prepare vegetables and grains à la minute and refine dishes with herbs according to your wishes.
