REGENERATION & INNER BALANCE

Yoga & retreat at Marienkron

Time Out for Body & Mind

Relaxation and movement with yoga

At the retreat hotel Marienkron in the Seewinkel near Vienna, we draw from the tradition of the adjoining monastery, which has long known the key role of meditation in the regeneration of body and mind.

In our stressful everyday lives, we often forget to treat our bodies and their signals with mindfulness. With yoga, meditation & Qi Gong, both physical strength and inner balance can be restored. Because these practices are so individual, they are suitable for everyone – which is exactly why they are such a perfect fit at Marienkron.

As individual as YOU and your needs.

The holistic approach of yoga practice has many positive effects on mental and physical health. Regular practice of yoga, meditation, and Qi Gong helps to maintain inner peace and strength, enabling you to keep a clear mind even in challenging situations.

The focus is on cultivating mindfulness and reducing stress.

At the retreat hotel Marienkron, you also have the opportunity to be supported by therapists and nutritionists – for a strengthening and therapeutic effect through movement, meditation, and healthy cuisine. For even more well-being, wraps, Kneipp showers, baths, various massages, and beauty treatments can be added.

The health benefits of yoga

The all-rounder for well-being

A regular practice has many positive physical and mental effects. The health benefits are largely scientifically confirmed.

Yoga has a positive effect on our cardiovascular system and our breathing. In addition, it supports the immune system and stimulates digestion.

Yoga can help with stress-related conditions such as high blood pressure, stomach problems, and headaches. It strengthens the nervous system, improves concentration, and promotes inner balance.

Yoga can help prevent burnout or depressive moods. It also acts preventively against premature aging. You stay flexible, strengthen your muscles, and thereby support an upright posture.

What types of yoga are there?

Over time, countless forms of yoga have developed. They differ in the way they are practiced and in their focus. Here you will find a small selection of well-known yoga styles:

Hatha yoga:

Hatha yoga is perhaps the most classic form. The focus is on personal balance and inner harmony. Hatha yoga includes a wide range of physical exercises (asanas), breathing exercises (pranayama), as well as mental relaxation techniques and meditation.
When practicing, special attention is paid to the powerful and mindful execution of the exercises in combination with correct breathing. Hatha yoga is therefore a great way for beginners to get familiar with the discipline, its effects, and the different asanas.

Vinyasa yoga:

Vinyasa yoga is a creative variation of classic Hatha yoga. Unlike the static poses of Hatha, this style focuses on dynamic, flowing movements. What unites both styles is the breathing, which is synchronized with the exercises. This creates a so-called “flow experience,” often associated with feelings of happiness and inner harmony.

Ashtanga yoga:

Ashtanga yoga is a dynamic style of yoga with fixed sequences of exercises. These sequences are repeated energetically several times in one session and performed as precisely as possible.
Ashtanga yoga is therefore a very powerful and fast-paced form of yoga. It is quite demanding and thus more suitable for advanced practitioners. However, the sense of achievement afterwards is all the more intense.

Iyengar yoga:

Iyengar yoga focuses on directing and centering one’s life energy. This form promotes stability, strength, and proper body alignment with special attention to breathing. Iyengar Yoga is one of the most medically and psychologically researched yoga traditions.
When practicing the associated postures and breathing techniques, great emphasis is placed on precise execution. Due to the focus on body alignment, back and neck problems in particular can often be alleviated.

More often than in other styles, Iyengar yoga makes use of props such as blocks or straps to ensure optimal performance.
